Hyperliquid

Hyperliquid is an on-chain perpetuals exchange, self-custodial by construction, so it never takes custody of your funds. In exchange it has the highest account floor of the three venues and a more selective catalog.

The credential model is genuinely different from the other two. Read the API wallet section carefully.

Minimum account: $5,000 of equity in your Hyperliquid perps account.

Hyperliquid applies a flat $10 minimum order size, double the centralized venues’. The strategy holds roughly twenty positions, so the account has to be about twice the size before every leg clears that floor. Below $5,000, legs get held back and the book drifts toward a concentrated version.

It is USDC-margined and perp-only. AlphaHouse trades your perps account, so transfer USDC across from spot before you connect.

Hyperliquid does not issue API keys and secrets. You generate an API wallet (or agent wallet), a separate keypair authorised to sign trades on behalf of your main wallet.

The important property: an API wallet can trade, but it cannot withdraw or transfer your funds. That is enforced by Hyperliquid, not by us.

  1. Open app.hyperliquid.xyz and connect your wallet.

  2. Go to Settings → API.

  3. Generate a new API wallet, named something recognisable such as alphahouse.

  4. Copy the API wallet private key. It is displayed once.

  5. Authorise the API wallet on-chain when prompted. That signature from your main wallet is what grants it permission to trade.

  6. Note the expiry, if the interface offers one. An expired API wallet cannot trade, and AlphaHouse starts reporting failures.

You also need your wallet address: the 0x... main wallet you connected with, not the API wallet’s address.

Step 2: Paste the credentials into AlphaHouse

Section titled “Step 2: Paste the credentials into AlphaHouse”

Two fields, labelled differently from the other venues.

Field in AlphaHouse What to paste Helper text you will see
Wallet Address Your main 0x... Hyperliquid wallet address The Ethereum wallet address linked to your Hyperliquid account
API Wallet Private Key The private key of the API wallet you just generated The private key for your Hyperliquid API wallet (generated in Settings → API)
  1. Go to the Exchanges page and choose Add Brokerage Connection. In onboarding this is the “Connect Your Brokerage” step.

  2. Select Hyperliquid from the exchange list.

  3. Paste your wallet address into Wallet Address. It should begin 0x.

  4. Paste the API wallet private key into API Wallet Private Key.

  5. Click Test Connection.

  6. Once it succeeds, click Add Connection (or Continue in onboarding).

A successful test reports your account equity in USDC, and the connection card shows a green Connected badge with equity and open position count. Compare it against the perps balance in the Hyperliquid app; a much lower figure usually means your USDC is still in spot.

Self-custodial. Your funds stay in your own wallet on-chain, and AlphaHouse holds a key that can only place trades.

Cross margin, one-way. One net position per market, and no position-mode setting to change.

Order minimum is $10. Flat across the book, and the reason for the $5,000 floor. Close to the floor, expect more held orders.

Catalog is smaller. Around 175 perpetual markets, against 700+ on Bitget and 850+ on Gate. The strategy still runs, from a narrower pool.

Referral. Hyperliquid records one referrer per account, and the slot can be filled only once. Where we have a referral code configured and your slot is still free, we claim it the first time we place a trade for you — not when you connect, so do not expect to see it immediately. It costs you nothing and gets you a 4% discount on your Hyperliquid fees for your first $25M of volume; Hyperliquid pays us a share of its own cut. If you already have a referrer, nothing changes. We mention it because the trading library most platforms use claims this slot for itself without telling anyone, and we would rather say it out loud.

  • Test fails immediately. Check the address field holds your main wallet address and the key field holds the API wallet’s key, not the other way round, and that the API wallet was authorised on-chain rather than just generated.
  • It worked and then stopped. The API wallet may have expired or been revoked. Generate a new one and update the connection.
  • Equity reads zero or very low. Your USDC is likely still in spot.
